The Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE) is working closely with local school districts and health officials on the start of the 2020-2021 school year this fall. While plans are still being developed and are subject to change, the most likely scenario is that VCOE schools and most local districts will reopen on their regular dates in mid to late August. Discussions are now underway about how to bring students and staff back to campuses in the safest possible manner. VCOE has convened a task force with local education leaders to figure out the complex safety, educational, labor and transportation issues surrounding reopening during an ongoing pandemic situation. VCOE and individual school districts will be communicating with their students and families as plans take shape.
